John Housman Field

John Housman field was name in 1984 after Ewing High Schools first football coach and retired principal. Housman field has a seating capacity of approximately 3,000 hosting football, and track events since the mid 1950's.

After several night football events in the late 1990's with portable lights, permanent lighting was installed before the 2000 football season making Ewing High school the second public school in Mercer County with lights for night football and track & field events.

In 2006 Housman Field received a major renovation when the wooden bleachers on the home side of the stadium were all replaced with aluminum seating and reconfigurations were added to make the stadium handicap assessable. In the spring of 2006 the deteriorating wooden visitor's bleachers were replaced with aluminum structure.

Again in 2008 Housman Field received probably it's most significant upgrading when the worn overused grass surface was replace with Field Turf. The new generation synthetic playing surface has permanent markings for five sports that have allowed Housman Stadium to become a multi-purpose arena that can host football, soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse. With lights and a synthetic surface John Housman field is the only arena in the county that host multiple sporting events day and night, seven days a week in all types of weather.
